I’ve realized that sometimes the most important conversation you could ever have during times of crisis and adversity in your life is the one you have with yourself. The conversation where you convince yourself that you can overcome and become something greater in the process of it all. The conversation where you influence and persuade yourself to believe that such struggles and challenges are allowed on your journey through this “life” thing only to make you stronger and more resilient.
The act of talking to yourself has been villainized for far too long. It’s time to clear up an undeserving, old, negative image about self-talkers and get the story straight. I sincerely believe that talking to yourself is a vitally important skill set. The great ones know something that most people don’t know and they’ve made an effort to master the self-talk-technique and turned it into a little-known overlooked art form.
Yes, the schizophrenic symptom of hearing voices can be a good thing when the voices in your own head are urging and cheering you on and reminding you that you’re an overcomer. So I say to you today and everyday here forward. Don’t be afraid of what others are saying and thinking about you when they see you having a good-old-fashioned power-chat with the man in the mirror. Don’t be apprehensive about what others are thinking when they see you getting pumped up in your car or truck with no music on. We do things today that most don’t so we can accomplish things tomorrow that most won’t.
Be encouraged today and continue to lean forward with confidence and make this good day a GREAT day.
