So I’m in the lobby of my orthopedic doctor’s office yesterday to be evaluated for surgery on my left knee.  They called my name and I responded to the appropriate area.  Then the cute little medical assistant says, “Follow me,” and takes off walking bristly down the hall as if I didn’t have a problem with my knee.

I was initially going to scream out “Slow down please,” (with a smile of course) but I thought I’d just wait to see how long it would take for her to realize that I wasn’t behind her.  Two corners later it finally happened for her and she came back for me with a big smile and full of apologies.  🙂

Her name is Marissa and this was her first week on the job so I cut her a little bit of slack.  After reaching the room we had a nice little conversation about her journey to this point in her life.  She’s a young single mother of two feeling like she can finally breathe a little bit easier now knowing that her hard work and perseverance through her struggle phase of life was finally starting to show signs of paying off and being worth it all.

Bright eyes with a bright shirt and shoes to match, she was definitely a breath of fresh air in an area that definitely needed her smiling spirit.  Being raised in a dysfunctional family life and being forced to grow up early and become a surrogate mother to her younger siblings at a young age took its toll on her mentally and physically.  But, that was just the beginning of her story not the end.

She eventually put a period at the end of that chapter in her life and turned the page then took out a new ball-point pen and started to write out some new goals for the new and improved version of herself.  “I knew that I had to do something different and not continue down that road in my life…” she said with a smile.  “…and now I’m soooo glad I did.”

When asked what advice would she give others who are experiencing similar things in their life, she said, “Don’t allow your bad past or present experiences today to determine your tomorrow.”  “WOW!” I said, “that sounds like something I would say.”  We both laughed and shared a few more words and niceties.

Then I gave her a copy of my book, “Bread Crumbs to Making it GREAT” and told her that there is no better companion to ride shotgun with her on her journey through her days of struggle ahead.  I also told her that I would be including a snap-shot of her story in one of my upcoming book series.  Her face then lit up as if she’d just won the lottery.  Then I happily sent her off with a high-five and a “Make it GREAT!

Yes, Marissa’s story is sure to inspire others no doubt.  The reality is that many of us have similar stories that are sure to inspire others if only we would make an effort to share them.  But the tragedy is most of us don’t share them for one reason or another.

So a good question today is, “What’s your story?”  Are you making an effort to share it so that it might inspire others?  I believe someone is quietly waiting to hear your story so that they may be inspired to believe that they too can overcome and become something special.  So, don’t let them down.  Not today.

Now get-on out there and tell your story and Make it GREAT!!!  They’ll be glad you did…  It sure is refreshing to see how inspiring stories can come out of some of the simplest conversations in the simplest places.  😉

People walking in darkness may never find their way unless someone is willing to hold up a light.  So those of us who have been rescued from living a humdrum life of stinking thinking with no meaning or purpose have a duty, in fact obligation to shine a light so that others may also see a path to a positive promise.

Yes my friends, the cycle of life suggest that we were rescued on purpose so that we will rescue others for their purpose, some of which may not even know that they’re in need of rescuing.  Hmmm…  I truly believe that he who is walking in darkness but does not know he’s in darkness will never seek the light and as a result, we have to be willing to do our part and let our little light shine bright like a diamond.

So which part of the path are you on these days?  Are you letting your little light shine, or, are you in need of someone to shine a little light for you?  No need to answer here, just make sure you’re crystal clear.

Well, as for me, in the words of the old popular children’s Sunday school song, “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine” in an attempt to show others how to find their purpose and passion and to make it GREAT!

So, dare to join me today on the pathway to a positive promise and Make it GREAT!

Most people would probably agree with me when I say that only a special kind of fool would wait for abundance to arrive before they would start to give and sow seeds.  Yet the harsh reality is that many refuse to give during their times of scarcity and struggle.

To that end, I invite you to consider the following truth that I’ve uncovered and discovered on my life’s journey.  The best way to open the door for abundance to enter your life is to be willing to give during your times of scarcity and struggle.

You see giving is not just related to your money or treasures.  Giving is even more important when it’s in the form of your time and talents.

So, you say you don’t have any money at this time?  Well, try digging even deeper into the pocket of your life and pull out some time to give to someone else in need or leverage that unique talent of yours to brighten someone else’s day and your special way.  I challenge you to make a habit of doing this on a regular basis and watch what happens to that ‘abundance’ thing in your life.

Yes, this breadcrumb can surely help you to make this life GREAT!  So feel free to eat up and go up.  Make it GREAT!

Just as sure as weeds will always challenge even the greatest of flowerbeds, so too will evil always challenge those who dare to attempt to do good in this world.

So if you’re feeling like you’re meeting opposition and being challenged lately by something or someone on your quest to doing something good in this world, count it all joy and keep on truckin.  Don’t give your opposition the satisfaction of thinking that it can score a victory with your defeat.

In all your respective causes that are noble and just I say “PRESS-ON” because someone is quietly counting on you not just to win, but to win BIG.

So keep pushing to Make it GREAT!

This may come as a bit of a shock and surprise to some of you but I must admit that a few days ago I had to perform the infamous act of “Giving Up”.

Yes that’s right folks the self-proclaimed King of Motivation, Inspiration, Education and Transformation had to succumb to committing the ultimate act.  But this “Giving Up” may be slightly different than what you think it is.

Well you see, after days of pushing through the pain and bearing all the strain of the unpredictable days of one challenge after the next in my crossfit workout group, the pressure finally got to me.  The intense pressure built up over the days of back-to-back challenges with no easy days in between finally took its toll and caused me to “Give Up” on holding back my emotions after successfully completing yet another W.O.D. (Workout Of the Day).

“Yessss!!!  WooHooooo!!!” I cried out in an abrupt release of emotion and as I looked around the room I saw nothing but familiar faces that directly identified with my struggle and triumphant victory.

Great job Cedric,” yelled Heidi followed by a solid high-five from Mandi and Kristina accompanied by an encouraging thumbs up from Ryan and BJ who were too tired for words or actions at the time.  LOL…

You see “Giving Up” on holding back emotions is a welcomed event in our Slikker-Crossfit Box and we Crazy Crossfiters completely understand that when we give it our absolute best the numbers and scores on the white board of fame can never make us a loser.

So get on out there today and don’t be afraid to completely “Give Up” on attempting to hold back that emotion of yours and scream out loud when you achieve a milestone or a hard-fought rep or round.

You may even want to consider slapping a few hands in a gesture of high-fives also.  No worries, we won’t look at you funny because we know how you feel.  🙂     Actually I’ve found myself  “Giving Up” on holding back my emotions more-and-more often now and it sure does feel good.

So keep pushing to Make it GREAT and I’ll see you at the top.
