It can be your most formidable foe or your bestest of friends,
Depending on the physical state that it’s in.
It can rain down on your head or slide under your feet.
And the path of least resistance is usually what it seeks.
Too much of it causes death and not enough causes devastation.
But it’s essential to sustaining life when it’s used in moderation.
It can sprinkle, it can splash, it can flow it can crash.
All living things need it even the trees and the grass.
Our planet it covers by a fraction of two-thirds.
It governs the seasons and the migration of the herds.
It even dictates the paths of the flight of the birds,
And the outcome of battles between ISIS and Kurds.
Some hike for miles to get it in the driest regions of the planet,
While others just turn on the tap and usually take it for granted.
By now you may know what this element is,
Which all must consume in order to live.
Its importance is undeniable in the circle of life.
For lack of it will surely cause stress, strain and strife.
The planet can get no more of it and never any less.
So, we should take care of what we have and treat it with our best.
Yes, the same has been consumed by even ancient dinosaurs,
By every plant and nut eater and every meat carnivore.
This resource will need to be used by our sons and our daughters.
So let’s do what we can from day-to-day to preserve and protect our vital water.
Let’s Make it GREAT!
